ShelterBoxes contain shelter, cooking utensils, blankets & groundsheets, water filtration, multi-fuel stove, tools and more for 10 people.
ShelterBox is the largest global Rotary Club project. Started in 1999 by a British Rotarian, ShelterBox has helped countless thousands of people whose homes have been destroyed by tsunamis, earthquakes, typhoons, hurricanes and other natural disasters. ShelterBox Response Teams (SRT) are often on the ground in a disaster area within 24 hours to survey the damage, determine the level of need and coordinate local assistance. In assisting with earthquake relief in Haiti, ShelterBox Canada deployed its 3,000th ShelterBox since its inception, on February 5th, 2010. The Rotary Club of Cobourg, has been a supporter of ShelterBox Canada for a number of years. We have contributed 10 boxes for Haitian relief after the January 12th earthquake that left 200,000 dead and millions homeless.
